Superstition and "The Scottish Play"

William Shakespeare's Macbeth is often referred to as "The Scottish Play" or "MacBee" due to its allegedly belief of the superstitions accompanied with it. Many believe that since Shakespeare supposedly used a number of accurate spells within the play which angered the witches and caused them to curse the play. Saying the name Macbeth in the theater could cause production failure, as well as physical injury and maybe even death in some cases. In fact, King James had actually banned the play for five years because of his strong resentment and concern of dangers in the play. In another case, an actress, Lady Macbeth, fell off the front of the stage while sleepwalking and dropped nearly twenty feet. Given these examples, I would not joke around with the superstition of the Macbeth play.
